BS in Computer Science/MS in Computing Program

Computer Science majors considering a professional career can choose to combine the undergraduate course work with an additional year of study to receive a BS with a major in Computer Science and an MS in Computing in five years. This program provides the opportunity to extend technical knowledge though the acquisition of 24 additional credits in course related to computer science, information technology, computer engineering, and informations systems, which are the five disciplines that constitute the study of computing.

Students with qualifying academic records can apply to the Graduate School for admission into the MS in Computing program after their sophomore year.

The department cross lists many upper division courses as graduate courses. The graduate school version of these courses have different grading expectations and additional assignments to qualify them for graduate study. Students in the five-year program register for the graduate courses to fulfill four of the upper division electives in the Computer Science major. These courses are double counted to provide 12 of the graduate credits required for the MS degree. To complete the program in five years, the student must obtain the 24 graduate course credits over the following summer, fall and spring terms.

STEM-MBA Program

The STEM-MBA Program allows students to earn both an undergraduate degree in a technical field and an MBA in just five years. Currently, the MSCS department is working in conjunction with the Graduate School of Management to help students obtain the following degree combinations:





Summer Research Experience

The Department of Mathematics, Statistics and Computer Science hosts a Summer Research Experience (REU) for Undergraduates. This program provides undergraduates with an intensive, faculty-mentored, summer research experience in the areas of applied mathematics, high-performance computing, statistics, ubiquitous systems and mathematics education.
