Mobile computing is one of the hot new IT jobs identified in a recent industry study conducted by Information World magazine. Smart phones, tablets, and ubiquitous mobile devices are driving new models of interacting with application users. New issues in security and design are arising.

Careers in mobile including software engineering and dealing with the enterprise architecture of applications that utilize mobile devices for data collection or reporting. Students interested in this area combine mobile computing core courses with either system architecture or software engineering course to prepare themselves for mobile application engineering or enterprise level mobile application architecture responsibilities.

Summer 2013 Research Experience

The Department of Mathematics, Statistics and Computer Science hosted the NSF-funded Summer 2013 Research Experience (REU) for Undergraduates. This program provides U.S. undergraduates with an intensive, faculty-mentored, summer research experience in the areas of applied mathematics, high-performance computing, statistics, ubiquitous systems and mathematics education.
