The Department of Mathematics, Statistics and Computer Science congratulates Dr. John C. Moyer the recipient of the 2012 John P. Raynor, S.J. Faculty Teaching Award for Teaching Excellence, Marquette's University's pre-eminent teaching award.

IBM Master the Mainframe Contest

WeiqiangWang, a student in the M.S. in Computing program, was recognized in a list of students who completed the Part 2 challenge of the 2011 IBM Master the Mainframe Contest.  The contest drew over 3,900 students from across the US and Canada, http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/university/students/contests/mainframe/winners.htm

Certified Professional in Healthcare Information Management Systems

MSCS hosted the fall 2011 Certified Professional in Healthcare Information Management Systems (CPHIMS) Study Group of the Healthcare Information Management Systems Society (HIMSS).  HIMSS sponsors education for healthcare information technology professionals.  Marquette’s location as a venue was notable because it was the first time an educational institution has been selected to host this event.

Dr. Paul Bankston and Dr. Karl Byleen recognized for their academic contributions

Dr. Paul Bankston, who recently celebrated 30 years of service to the Marquette community, has been conferred the status of Professor Emeritus. Dr. Karl Byleen has been conferred the status of Associate Professor Emeritus which will take effect upon his full retirement from Marquette. This promotion recognizes the high quality of their academic career achievements. Summer 2012 Research Experience

The Department of Mathematics, Statistics and Computer Science is hosting the NSF-funded Summer 2012 Research Experience (REU) for Undergraduates. This program provides U.S. undergraduates with an intensive, faculty-mentored, summer research experience in the areas of applied mathematics, high-performance computing, statistics, ubiquitous systems and mathematics education.
