Applying for Financial Aid. . . is as easy as 1, 2, 3!

Applying for financial aid can be a painless process if you keep in mind some helpful hints and follow the instructions provided here. If you'd like to determine how much aid you'll need to attend Marquette, please visit the Marquette Net Price Calculator.

  1. Get Organized
To complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), you will need to:
    • Gather your and your parent's most recent tax information. It's good to file the FAFSA based on a completed tax return. However, it's far better to file the FAFSA early with estimates than later with exact figures. If you won't have your taxes done by early February, estimate.
    • Apply for a Personal Identification Number (PIN) online. This will serve as your electronic signature on your FAFSA application.
    • Have your parent apply for a PIN online. This can serve as your parent's electronic signature on your FAFSA application.
  2. Submit the FAFSA
    The FAFSA is available online.
    • File your FAFSA between January 1 - February 15 in order to receive consideration for all types of financial aid. FAFSAs received March 1 or later will result in a reduced financial aid package.
    • Complete all sections about you, your school plans, and financial information.
    • List Marquette University. Our school code is 003863.
    • Provide your electronic signature (PIN). Don't forget to include your parent's PIN too or your FAFSA will be rejected.
    • Submit your information.
    • Print out and keep a copy of your submitted information for your records.
  3. FAFSA Follow Up
Here's what happens after you file the FAFSA:
    • You will receive a Student Aid Report (SAR). Check it for accuracy and follow up on any requests for additional information.
    • Your Expected Family Contribution (EFC) is calculated from information you provided on the FAFSA and is listed on your SAR. The EFC is the amount your family is expected to contribute to your education for the upcoming year.
    • If you have special or extraordinary circumstances notify Marquette Central in writing.
    • Your financial aid award will be emailed to your eMarq account. Read and follow all instructions.
