Hey! Paul Dang here. It’s a pleasure to meet you! I am a senior at Marquette, majoring in biomedical engineering, with a focus on bio-computing. From an over-excited first-year resident in McCormick to becoming an aged facilities manager in Abbottsford, I have seen a lot of life in my years at Marquette. Choosing Marquette has been an unforgettable experience and I am excited to share some of my stories during my last year with you! Let’s start by sharing a little about me.
My family means everything to me. They’ve taught me a hundred lessons and shown me a hundred moments of love! Pictured here is the children of the family with grandma for Christmas and wearing tacky matching sweaters—can’t beat a holiday moment like that!
I wanted to tackle new things head-on when I came to Marquette. I ended up with a shaved head alongside two of my floormates in McCormick for St. Baldrick’s!
I was very studious freshman year, but also spent too much time goofing off. Some Friday nights, my roommate and I would spend walking around in a Lunar New Year lion costume. We’re here in Engineering Hall, with me as the head and my roommate as the butt.
I quickly got involved in diversity groups on campus. I spent time in the Vietnamese Student Association, the Bayanihan Student Organization and the Indian Student Organization. I’m pictured here in the BSO Fashion Show (holding the young man with his arms up).
I have a passion for music and hope to perform on campus a few more times before I graduate! I’m pictured performing at McCabe Mug Night. My sanctuary is practicing in my room.
I spent five terms as a software co-op/intern at Siemens Healthcare. I was able to learn about product development and the many processes that need to be passed for a medical device to meet patient safety regulations. I’m pictured here dining with a few of my co-workers—we loved to spend an hour (or two!) taking a break from work every week to explore venues in town.
As a Vietnamese Catholic, I spend weekends and much of the summer with my youth group—the Vietnamese Eucharistic Youth Movement. We share and celebrate Vietnamese culture as well as the stories and values of the Bible. We are pictured here with the kids and the youth leaders at an annual camp.
I’m always down to try food that is new and authentic. Pictured here are all dishes that I’ve had in the Milwaukee area, taken from my own camera—try and guess where they are from!
I am a hobbyist photographer and videographer. This is my favorite photo that I took from a vacation to Boston that I took with my cousins. It’s a real tragedy being the photographer and never being in any pictures.
Finally, I am proud to say that I started as a resident assistant in Abbottsford in 2013 and was able to return to a new staff as the facilities manager of the building in 2016. Our staff is pictured here and you can already tell our supervisor is sick of our antics!
