1. Updated contact information needed for university records

All students are strongly encouraged to update their personal contact information via CheckMarq by Sunday, June 15. Each student should have an updated address and telephone number (preferably a mobile number) on the system. This information is used by university staff to contact students during emergencies and to conduct vital university business.

To update contact information, go to the Student Self-Service tab in CheckMarq and click the update links under the “My Personal Information” section.

2. Patio Grille featuring live musical performance

The Marquette Place Patio Grille Live Music Fridays Series will feature Milwaukee-based singer-songwriter Jake Shimon on Friday, June 13, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Shimon is a musician whose voice, lyrics and melodies make easy-listening, genre-bending acoustic pop-rock songs, according to Campus Dining Services. The Patio Grille has also added grilled chicken sate and vegetables with a mushroom wild rice salad as a side option.

“Lunda on the Run” features a grilled vegetable and shrimp salad on romaine lettuce with fresh Parmesan cheese, sliced ham and cheddar on a ciabatta roll with whole grain honey mustard mayo and a chilled cinnamon peach soup. Call 8-3073 to make a reservation or place an order.

3. College of Professional Studies offering information session

The College of Professional Studies will hold an information session Saturday, June 14, for working adults interested in pursuing undergraduate degrees. The session will be held in Cudahy Hall 414, from 10 to 11:15 a.m.

The session will provide details on the degrees available, class schedules, financial aid options and the application and admission process.

4. Haggerty Museum of Art featuring several exhibitions

The Patrick & Beatrice Haggerty Museum of Art’s Caras Vemos, Corazones no Sabemos: Faces Seen, Hearts Unknown, The Human Landscape of Mexican Migration exhibition explores experiences of migration through contemporary visual art and will be held until July 13. Re-seeing the Collection features works from the museum’s vast permanent collection, including Old Masters from the Haggerty, Portraits of Women until July 13 and Roy Lichtenstein Prints until Aug. 17.

5. Annex holding Team Trivia event and Brewers Tailgate

The Union Sports Annex’s will host Team Trivia on Tuesday, June 10, beginning at 9 p.m. Marquette Cash prizes will be awarded to the top three teams of any size. The competition is free and open to the public. Teams should arrive by 8:45 p.m. to sign up.

The Annex will also hold its second annual Brewers Tailgate on Friday, Aug. 8, including a buffet at the Annex at 4 p.m. A shuttle will depart for Miller Park at 5:30 p.m. Refreshments will be served at Miller Park until the Brewers play the Washington Nationals at 7:05 p.m. Tickets for the event are limited. Talk to Annex staff or call 8-7769 to purchase tickets. Cost is $25 per ticket and includes a T-shirt.

6. Notification of FERPA Rights

Marquette is required by federal law to notify all students of their Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act rights at the beginning of each term. The annual FERPA notification is available online. Contact the Office of the Registrar at 8-7034 or in Marquette Hall 310 for more information.


News Briefs is published for Marquette students every Monday and Thursday, except during summer and academic breaks when only the Monday edition is published. The deadline for the Monday edition is noon Friday. The deadline for the Thursday edition is noon Wednesday.
