1. Commencement weekend includes Mass, webcast and free parking

Marquette's 132nd Commencement will be held Sunday, May 19, at 9:30 a.m. at the Bradley Center. The Baccalaureate Mass will be Saturday, May 18, at 4:30 p.m. at the U.S. Cellular Arena. Tickets are not needed for either event.

A full freeway closure of I-94 North-South will take place Friday evening, May 17, through Sunday morning, May 19, the weekend of Commencement. If travel plans of family and friends planning to attend Commencement include traveling along I-94 East (Northbound) through Kenosha and Racine Counties, allow extra time for traveling. Bill Cosby will be this year's Commencement speaker. Cosby is known for his commitment to education and emphatically believes that the best assurance for a satisfying and rewarding life begins with knowledge. Cosby himself went back to college, long after he had achieved much of his success to obtain a master's degree as well as a doctorate degree in education. As part of the ceremony, Cosby will receive an honorary doctor of letters degree.

Sister Rosemary Connelly, R.S.M., will receive an honorary doctor of humane letters degree. She is executive director of Misericordia Heart of Mercy, a service organization in Rogers Park, Ill., that supports people with developmental disabilities. The all-university Commencement ceremony will be webcast so that family and friends not in attendance can participate.

All campus parking lots will be open and free of charge over Commencement weekend, May 17-19. Gates to most lots will open Friday afternoon and will remain open through Sunday evening. 2. University mourns the death of Rory Knox

The university mourns the death of Rory Knox, animal care and facility supervisor in the Office of Research Compliance. Knox passed away the weekend of May 4-5, 2013. Visitation is Friday, May 17, from noon to 1 p.m., and will be followed by a service at 1 p.m. at at Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church, located at 3737 N. Sherman Blvd. in Milwaukee.

3. Register for Tee It Up For Hoops fundraiser by May 31

Join the Marquette women's basketball program's annual Tee It Up For Hoops golf outing on Tuesday, June 11, at 8 a.m. at The Legend at Bristlecone in Hartland, Wis. The event is $195 per golfer to play 18 holes along with the women's basketball team and staff, or $225 per golfer to include a Par-3 Challenge and three mulligans. A continental breakfast, lunch and participation gift will be provided. A lunch-only option is available for $35 per person. All proceeds benefit the women's basketball program.

4. Piano sale open to Marquette community members

A large selection of grand, baby grand and other pianos used on campus by Marquette students, as well as other keyboards, orchestral string instruments and guitars will be on sale Friday, May 24, to Sunday, May 26, as part of a partnership between Marquette and the Rockley Family Foundation. Most instruments are less than a year old and include a new factory warranty and tuning. The event will be held in the Varsity Theatre.

The pre-sale for Marquette community members is Friday, May 24, and Saturday, May 25, by appointment. Call 8-4884 to make an appointment. The general public final sale will be Sunday, May 26, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
