A limited supply of tickets is still available for the Presidential Inauguration Ceremony, which will take place Friday, Sept. 19, at 3 p.m. in the Al McGuire Center. Doors will open at 2 p.m. One ticket per Marquette ID for the Presidential Inauguration Ceremony is available for pick-up while supplies last in the AMU Brooks Lounge during normal business. Brooks Lounge hours can be found on the Inauguration website. Faculty participating in the academic procession do not need a ticket for the ceremony. Faculty who are not walking in the procession will need a ticket for the ceremony.
Distribution of academic apparel for faculty members participating in the academic procession will take place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 16, in the AMU 448.
A reception will follow the Inauguration Ceremony at the Helfaer Recreation Center. Classes are cancelled beginning at 3 p.m. so faculty, staff and students can attend the Inauguration Ceremony. All members of the Marquette community are also invited to the Inaugural Mass on Thursday, Sept. 18, but are reminded that seating inside Church of the Gesu is limited. Doors will open at 2:30 p.m. for the 4 p.m. Mass. Tickets are not required for the Mass.

Marquette University will host a Community Nutrition and Health Conference, Friday, Oct. 17, from 7:45 a.m. to 4:15 p.m., in AMU 227. This conference is co-sponsored by Medical College of Wisconsin, the Institute for Urban Agriculture and Nutrition, and the Clinical and Translational Science Institute of Southeast Wisconsin, and is intended to bring together researchers and community members interested in improving nutritional intake and the health of people in Southeast Wisconsin through intra-disciplinary and intra-institutional collaborations.

The Social Innovation Initiative is accepting applications for the 2014 Good Money Challenge, which offers $25,000 in funding. The event is open to anyone with an idea or business plan that creates a social or environmental impact.

Dr. Rebecca Nowacek, director of the Ott Memorial Writing Center, in partnership with the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs will host a workshop Monday, Sept. 15, from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. in Raynor Memorial Libraries Beaumier Suite A, on creating posters for conferences. The session will discuss how to condense a project into a poster format, highlight best practices for poster creation and analyze principles for rhetorically effective posters.

Faculty interesting in exploring how using contemplative pedagogies in the classroom can improve student attention, focus and learning can participate in a certificate program sponsored by Manresa for Faculty in the Center for Teaching and Learning. Workshops will be led by Marquette faculty and community members. Sessions will draw from a wide variety of contemplative practices and pedagogical applications. An overview session is required, along with five additional sessions. Completion can occur over multiple semesters and topics will be repeated.

Marquette students and faculty will lead a discussion about their summer trip to Ethiopia at a Soup with Substance event Wednesday, Sept. 10, from noon to 1 p.m. in AMU 157. Over the summer, the group visited Catholic Relief Services programs in Ethiopia promoting education, micro-finance, water and sanitation, public health, and agriculture. They will share their experiences and discuss next year's trip.

Dr. Michael Berenbaum, director of the American Jewish University's Sigi Ziering Institute, will be the featured guest for an upcoming "On the Issues with Mike Gousha," Thursday, Sept. 11, 4:30 p.m. at Eckstein Hall.
One of the world's leading authorities on the Holocaust, Berenbaum has written 21 books and scores of scholarly and journalistic articles. Also a noted lecturer and teacher, he played an instrumental role in the creation of the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum and has worked on several award-winning films and television broadcasts. Berenbaum's written work includes an examination of the relationship between Jews and Catholics in the post-Holocaust period.

Faculty and staff are invited to join Marquette Volleyball for "Lunch at the Al" and the first home match of the 2014 season, Friday, Sept. 12, at 11 a.m. at the Al McGuire Center.
Free admission and concession discounts will be given to faculty and staff with a valid Marquette ID.
Registration is still open for Briggs & Al's Run & Walk for Children's Hospital of Wisconsin, which will take place Saturday, Sept. 13, at 10:30 a.m. More than 16,000 participants, including President Michael R. Lovell and Head Men's Basketball Coach Steve Wojciechowski and Head Women's Basketball Coach Carolyn Kieger are expected to line up on Marquette's campus for an 8K run and 3- and 5-mile walks to help make a difference in the lives of children from across Wisconsin. The event was founded by former Marquette basketball coach Al McGuire and has raised more than $14 million for the hospital to fund medical care, research and education.
The race starts at 12th Street and Wisconsin Avenue and continues to Lake Michigan near the Summerfest grounds. There is a $25 registration fee for walkers and a $30 registration fee for runners. For those who registered to be a part of the Marquette team before Aug. 27, race packets are available for pick-up in the Event Management Office, located in the AMU 245, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Individuals who need to pick up their packets outside of those hours can ask the Information Desk to retrieve their packet Monday through Saturday from 7 a.m. to 11:45 p.m. and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 11:45 p.m.
For those who registered to join the Marquette team after Aug. 27, race packets will be available the morning of the race at the Information Tent, located at the intersection of Wisconsin Avenue and 16th Street.
The Department of Recreational Sports will once again offer the Fit Pass for all members and students, as well as faculty and staff guests. The Fit Pass is $50 for the semester and the user may use the pass to gain entry to any group fitness class Recreational Sports offers at either the Rec Plex or the Rec Center. Recreational Sports is offering approximately 40 group fitness classes per week between the two facilities.
