1. Departments of English and Theology moving to Marquette Hall this month

As part of ongoing renovations to the university's historic core – Johnston, Marquette and Sensenbrenner Halls – the Departments of English and Theology are permanently moving to new locations in Marquette Hall this month. To foster interdisciplinary collaboration, the departments will share a main office suite in Marquette Hall, 115. The Department of Philosophy will also share that suite when it moves to Marquette Hall in early 2015.

The Department of English will move from its current location in Coughlin Hall, 335, to Marquette Hall, 115, effective June 24. The Department of Theology will move from its current location in Coughlin Hall, 100, to Marquette Hall, 115, effective June 20.

Interior renovations to Coughlin, Johnston and Marquette Halls will continue this summer.

2. University mourns the death of Cynthia (Cindy) Zautcke-Ostermeyer

Marquette University mourns the death of Cynthia (Cindy) Zautcke-Ostermeyer, policy analyst in the Institute for the Transformation of Learning. Zautcke-Ostermeyer died June 4 of complications from a rare form of lymphoma. An education advocate, Zautcke-Ostermeyer's work helped pave the way for charter schools to be a permanent part of education in Wisconsin, according to a Milwaukee Journal Sentinel obituary.

Zautcke-Ostermeyer formerly taught at Grand Alternative High School and helped found El Puente High School for at-risk students. She joined the Institute for the Transformation of Learning in 1997, where she worked with Dr. Howard Fuller, one of her mentors and the founder of the institute.

A public memorial service is planned for Sunday, July 13, at 3 p.m. at University School of Milwaukee. A donation fund in her name has been set up at the school to assist Milwaukee students who otherwise would not be able to attend the school.

3. Law School to hold information session June 13

The Law School is hosting an on-campus information session for prospective students Friday, June 13, at 11:45 a.m. in Eckstein Hall. The information session will give prospective students a chance to take a student-led tour, learn about the Law School, admissions, financial aid, enrollment policies and procedures, and the curriculum.
