Marquette’s commitment to diversity helps foster a culture of learning, appreciation and understanding.
Freshmen can become part of that commitment through our Inclusive Leadership CommUNITY, a vibrant group of students who live on one floor of the all-freshman McCormick Hall. Students from minority and majority cultures learn from each other in an environment that not only reflects but celebrates the world’s diversity.
The 56 students on the CommUNITY floor enrich each other’s understanding of cultural issues informally simply by being neighbors, but they also share their experiences with campus through student organizations and activities. And they develop leadership skills by planning cultural programs and retreats.
It all comes together in a two-semester seminar called “The Dynamics of Cross-cultural Engagement” where the members of CommUNITY bring backgrounds to discussions, readings and events at Marquette and in Milwaukee. And you’ll earn credit, too.
