Research
In 2006 the staff of the INFP completed a multi-site effectiveness and satisfaction of use of the Marquette Method of NFP-research project, results of this project can be found at http://www.marquette.edu/nursing/NFP/Publications.shtml. In April 2007 a pilot study to evaluate the effectiveness of the use of an online NFP education and service program for couples administered by professional nurses at Marquette University began and is ongoing. Please refer to http://nfp.marquette.edu for more information. February 2009 the Institute launched a federally funded “Effectiveness Study on Two Internet Based Natural Family Planning Methods” for couples wishing to avoid a pregnancy for one year. To be eligible couples must be in regular cycles and have access to the internet (see the above link for more details). After the couple registers they will be randomly assigned to learn and chart the signs of: mucus or urinary hormones. A ClearBlue Easy Fertility Monitor will be awarded to the couple assigned to the hormonal monitoring group within a few weeks after registration. Couples assigned to the mucus observation group will receive a ClearBlue Easy Fertility monitor when they have completed the study.
