Marquette University College of Nursing plans to launch its new DNP Nurse Anesthesia educational program in August, 2017 pending the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs’ (COA) accreditation decision. Students will be admitted to the Marquette DNP-Nurse Anesthesia program after the program has received COA accreditation. Applicants will be considered on a space-available basis for fall admission, provided their application is complete by June 1.
The focus of the doctor of nursing practice (DNP) program is advanced practice preparation at the very highest level-- nurses who understand the complexities of health care, including the need for patient safety, advanced clinical care demands (diagnostics and treatments), information technology, business management and health care finance.
Graduates of this program bring best practices to the point of service, having competence in evidence-based care and translational research methods for quality improvement.
The 36-month Nurse Anesthesia program is full time and will confer the DNP degree at program completion.
The curriculum and clinical experiences prepare students as expert clinicians for every setting in which anesthesia is delivered to patients.
Students gain hands on experience in a variety of regional and general anesthesia techniques under the supervision and guidance of certified registered nurse anesthetist (CRNA) and physician faculty and practitioners.
Other criteria include:
Students must file all components of the application process with Nursing CAS.
