Overview and Personnel


The Office of Nursing Research and Scholarship (ONRS) is designed to encourage and support scientific investigations by faculty and students. Services provided by the ONRS include:
  • Assistance in locating funding opportunities
  • Grant application preparation and submission
  • Consultation for design and data analysis
  • Conduct of scientific studies
  • Budgetary development
  • Scientific review of proposals
  • Personnel management guidance
  • Assistance with annual report preparation
  • Guidance for protection of human subjects
  • Maintenance and dissemination of information on funding opportunities, conferences, research development and training opportunities
  • Coordination of research colloquia for faculty
  • Consultation on research program development
  • Coordination of research mentoring program
  • Support for dissemination activities
  • Resources such as clinical agency IRB requirements, instrument repository, etc.

Ms. Holly Felzer

  • BS in biomedical sciences from Marquette University in 2004
  • Currently enrolled in the Adult Nurse Practitioner program at Marquette
  • Originally from the Village of Little Chute Wisconsin (approx. 2 hours North of Milwaukee)
  • Spent 6 ½ weeks in Africa during the summer of 2004 after graduation with the Marquette Aids and Africa Project
  • Commonly mistaken for my identical twin sister Heather, but don’t worry I will answer to both names and am not bothered by a simple mistaken identity

  • MSN in Nursing Management and Education from Chiang Mai University of Thailand in 2000
  • Currently enrolled in the Doctoral Program at Marquette
  • Has worked in research since 1996
  • Research interest areas include adult nursing, stress and adaptation, nursing management (quality improvement, nursing scheduling, and human resource management), nursing education, etc.
  • Was a nurse administrator in West China Hospital in China prior to starting the Doctoral  program at Marquette

Ms. Ariane Baumgartner

  • I received my Bachelor of Science majoring in Nutritional Science and Spanish from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2002.
  • Throughout my undergraduate career, I studied and traveled abroad. I spent a semester at La Catolica University in Santiago, Chile and spent a summer researching environmental, nutrition, and health issues in the Dominican Republic.
  • In 2004, I received my Masters of Public Health degree, concentrating in Maternal and Child Health from Boston University.
  • I enrolled in Marquette’s Direct Entry program in the summer of 2006.
  • I’m currently a registered nurse pursuing my Masters of Science in Nursing.
  • I plan to graduate this May 2009, ultimately becoming a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner.
