Background Checks
The Wisconsin Caregiver Background Check Law, section 48.685 and 50.065 of the Wisconsin Statutes, effective October 1, 1998, requires criminal background checks for all individuals involved in health care delivery in the state of Wisconsin. Marquette University College of Nursing students are required to submit to a criminal background check prior to completing Nursing 055 by completing the following forms:
- Background information disclosure form (HSF-64)
- Marquette University consent and release form
All materials are available in the Office of Undergraduate Programs, Emory Clark Hall, Room 251. It is the sole responsibility of the student to ensure that he/she has complied with this background check requirement. Students who have not met the background check requirement will not be allowed to participate in clinical courses.

CPR Certification Requirement
Prior to completion of Nurs 055 students must provide evidence of current CPR certification, including infant, child and adult (two person and obstructed airway resuscitation). This certification must be maintained throughout the remainder of the student's program through annual recertification. Documentation of such certification from the American Heart Association is required and must be submitted to the Office of Undergraduate Programs, Room 251. (Red Cross not accepted.)
