Internship & Residency

Marquette University is proud to sponsor a federally-funded program designed to assist new graduate nurses' successful transition into professional practice. Because of our belief in lifelong learning, Marquette has developed a statewide collaborative with acute care providers to continue the educational journey of new graduates through the Wisconsin Nurse Residency Program. Directed by Marilyn Meyer Bratt, PhD, RN, the program is committed to insuring the success of new graduates in their first year of employment. The program is between Marquette and eight rural and urban health care partners representing over 50 public and private hospitals throughout Wisconsin including:

  • All Saints Healthcare, Racine
  • Aurora Health Care, Milwaukee
  • Columbia St. Mary's, Milwaukee
  • Covenant Healthcare Systems, Inc., Milwaukee
  • Cumberland Memorial Hospital, Cumberland
  • Meriter Hospital, Madison
  • Rural Wisconsin Health Cooperative, South Central Wisconsin
  • ThedaCare, Appleton

Through the application of real clinical problems, the program uses individualized learning plans, structured learning experiences and a support system of expert nurses to promote development of critical thinking, clinical competency, clinical decision-making ability, leadership and capacity within the profession. It provides a unique opportunity for new graduates to collectively learn and dialogue across the state around areas of common interest. If you would like more information about this innovative program please contact:
