OIE Advisors and the Role of a Designated School Official (DSO)

You are welcome to contact OIE if you have a question. Some questions can be easily answered by our front desk staff while others may be more detailed and require an appointment to discuss your individual situation. 

Each U.S. university that enrolls F-1 students has Designated School Officials (or DSOs) who are responsible for updating the SEVIS system, and advising students about the F-1 regulations. Within OIE, our advisors who are also DSOs, specialize in assisting students from specific geographic regions or with special tasks.  At Marquette University, the Advisers/DSOs are:
