Updated policy on Marquette sponsored international travel
Under current university rule, any Marquette sponsored international travel – whether by students, faculty or staff – must follow University Policy and Procedures (UPP) 1-18. The policy is intended to centralize and define the approval process, required documentation and pre-program planning requirements for Marquette University employees or students participating in international travel.
For employees, this pertains to official business abroad including conference travel, funded research projects and coordinating or leading students in international credit or non-credit programs.
For students, this pertains to studying abroad for academic credit and international non-credit volunteer or service projects under the auspices of Marquette.
Specific requirements depend upon the exact type of travel and full details can be found in UPP 1-18 at Marquette's Office of International Education website: http//www.marquette.edu/oie/int_travel.shtml.

International Day a success
Marquette’s 28th annual International Day was held on Friday, March 23 in the AMU where guests were greeted by current international students from over 68 countries excited to show-off their culture, customs and food with Marquette students, faculty and staff. This special day was bustling with attendees tasting many cuisines unique to international students’ home countries such as Samosa at the India booth, pig ears and pot stickers at the China booth, tapioca and dumplings at the Philippines booth and other traditional foods from Saudi Arabia, Bangladesh, Vietnam and Jamaica! In addition to delectable tastes, attendees tried on traditional outfits from Saudi Arabia and got henna tattoos from the Indian Student Association. The event was a huge success drawing hundreds of visitors to each booth. Read more about the event in Marquette Magazine and check out pictures here.

Jesuits discuss situations featured in Kony 2012 video
The militia group founded in Uganda that has terrorized communities throughout central and eastern African countries has recently gained more public attention due to the surge in viewers of the Invisible Children “Kony 2012” video. While the video encourages sustained U.S. military presence in the northern Uganda region, the Catholic and Jesuit leaders currently in the region have been working in solidarity with local community members. Father Agbonkhianmeghe E. Orobator, the Jesuit provincial of eastern Africa, suggests that there has been a significant progress in the right direction. He also explains, “The U.S. government can help Uganda’s people by sending teachers, doctors, engineers, experts in agriculture and development.”
