International Research Poster Session award winner announced
The Office of International Education hosted the 2015 International Research Poster Session in collaboration with the Forward Thinking Poster Session and Colloquy sponsored by the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs (ORSP), the Office of the Vice Provost for Research, and the Graduate Student Organization on Tuesday, December 1. The event showcased international research among faculty members from all disciplines and connected faculty and students across the university.
A panel of judges awarded a $3,000 international research grant to Dr. Gerald Harris for his project titled "International Research to Improve Planning, Care and Functional Outcomes in Children With Orthopaedic Disabilities: Manila Philippines." Marquette's Orthopaedic and Rehabilitation Engineering Center has developed a low cost mobility assessment system for lower and upper extremity evaluation of children with orthopaedic disabilities. Dr. Harris' research team will use the grant to set up an additional lab in the Philippines. The lab will enable further research on how to modify wheelchair geometry and user position in order to maintain mobility while reducing the risk of shoulder injury.
The Office of International Education applauds each of the faculty participants and student teams who participated this year, including Dr. Iqbal Ahamed, Dr. Ardnt Guentsch and Dr. Seok Hwan Cho. Their research enriches the international community.
