Sister M. Leclare Beres to be Honored

Sister M. Leclare Beres, FSPA, will be honored by the Marquette
University Alumni Association at its annual Alumni National
Awards Dinner on Saturday, April 23. Beres will be awarded
the Service to the Community Award.
After earning her master's degree from Marquette University
in 1976, Beres continued to excel in a career in nursing,
directing and supervising nursing programs throughout the
Midwest. She established and directed the Indochinese
Screening Clinic from 1984 to 1998, receiving local and state
awards for her service. She also founded and directed
St. Clare Health Mission, a clinic for the poor and uninsured.
For her efforts, Beres was named The LaCrosse Tribune
Person of the Year in 2002. She was the first
person to be given this honor. Sr. Leclare Beres is
currently serving on a teaching mission in China.
The Alumni National Awards dinner is part of Marquette University
's Alumni Awards weekend, during which each college honors
the contributions of their alumni and bestows awards on those
demonstrating exceptional achievement.
