National Sports Law Institute of Marquette University Law School

to Host 2006 Conference

Individual performer sports issues will be highlighted

The National Sports Law Institute of Marquette University Law School (NSLI) will host a conference on “Individual Performer Sports: Current Legal and Business Issues” on Friday, Oct. 6, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.  Five conference panels will address cutting edge legal and business issues related to tennis, golf, track and field, poker, swimming and other individual performer sports.

Conference panels will address the legal and business aspects of internal regulation issues, emerging individual performer sports and transsexualism and athletic competition. Speakers include prominent experts in the sports industry including Jill Pilgrim, general counsel and director of business affairs for USA Track & Field, Libba Galloway, executive vice president and chief legal officer of the Ladies Professional Golf Association, and Jeff Gewirtz, general counsel and managing director of legal affairs for the United States Olympic Committee.

The conference is free for Marquette University Law School students, faculty and staff, but requires pre-registration. The general public is invited to attend for a fee of $150.00.
