In Common Hours, a new play by Andie Arthur, will be presented by the Marquette University Department of Performing Arts at the Evan P. and Marion Helfaer Theatre, located at 525 N. 13th Street.
The story of Louisa May Alcott’s unrequited love for Henry David Thoreau, In Common Hours is set during the Civil War. Based on critical writings and historical research, this creative nonfiction gives us another glimpse into the world of the Alcotts. Andie Arthur examines the frustrations of Victorian women in a patriarchal society that doesn’t acknowledge or value female intelligence. The play will run:
Thursday, Nov. 9, through Saturday, Nov. 11, at 7:30 p.m.
Sunday, Nov. 12, at 2:30 p.m.
Wednesday, Nov. 15, through Saturday, Nov. 18, at 7:30 p.m.
Sunday, Nov. 19, at 2:30 p.m.
