Marquette to Host Mayor Barrett’s Summer Jobs Participants

Nearly 500 Milwaukee high school students from Mayor Tom Barrett’s summer jobs program will participate in a college and career fair at Marquette University on Friday, Aug. 11. The event will bring together more than 20 local businesses including Accenture, Direct Supply, GE Healthcare, Harley Davidson, Rockwell Automation and others who will talk to students about careers in science, technology, engineering and math. The students visit also visit hands-on learning labs throughout the Marquette campus and have the opportunity to speak with area college admissions professionals.

Media are invited to talk to students at one of the learning labs as they experience the world f the stock market and investment trading in the Applied Investment Management Trading Room. This state-of-the-art research lab includes a real-time stock and news ticker, two wide LCD monitors connected to CNBC and 12 networked workstations. The students will be learning about the high-paced world of Wall Street stock trading.
