The issues surrounding the Democratic Party's nomination for
a Presidential candidate can be complex. Educating voters about
the issues is the goal of a special event this week at Marquette;
The Wisconsin Presidential Primary, A Roundtable Forum
will be presented on Thursday,
Feb. 12 at 7:30 p.m. in Room 202, Olin
Engineering Center. While geared towards students,
anyone is welcome to attend. EDITOR'S NOTE: This will be a
great opportunity for media looking to interview young people
about issues and their perspective on the Presidential race.
The evening will begin with presentations by each of the panelists,
followed by a question/answer discussion. The panel consists of
the following:
- Dr. Andrew Barrett, assistant professor of political science,
will speak on the history of the primary system
- Dr. Janet Boles, professor of political science, will speak
about media stereotypes of women voters
- Dr. John McAdams, associate professor of political science,
will speak about voter behavior and polling in primary elections
- Louis Fortis, Publisher of The Shepherd Express, will give
insight into primary politics as seen by an activist/journalist
The event will be moderated by Marquette senior Magen Knuth,
president of Pi Sigma Alpha ( a national political science honor
society). Thursday's forum is sponsored by Marquette Political
Science, Pi Sigma Alpha, Political Science Graduate Student Association,
Marquette College Democrats, and Marquette College Republicans.
