on Thursday, April 1 , Marquette 's
Hunger Clean-Up is holding a 24-hour frisbee-a-thon
to raise funds and awareness for hunger and homelessness in Milwaukee
. The event will take place on West Towne Mall in front
of the Alumni Memorial Union fronting Wisconsin Avenue . Media
parking is available in the structure on 16 th Street . All students,
faculty, and staff have been invited to come and play Frisbee
in order to raise money for a great cause.
About Hunger Clean-Up
On Saturday, April 17, Marquette University will celebrate the
15 th anniversary of Hunger Clean Up, its largest one-day community
service project. Marquette students are now raising money in advance
of the event that will go to local charitable organizations. This
annual spring event combines community service and fundraising
and has significantly impacted the Milwaukee community. Since
the program's creation in 1989:
--Volunteers have raised and donated more than $235,000
to various local organizations.
--More than 17,550 students have volunteered with this
program.
-- Hunger Clean Up volunteers have served at more than
650 sites in the city.
This year's fund recipients are Advocates of Ozaukee, Christ
Child and St. Catherine's Residence.
