Marquette to Offer
Graduating Seniors Job Search Boot Camp
Released:
May 11, 2006
MILWAUKEE –The Marquette University Career Services Center
will offer graduating Marquette seniors a chance to hone their
job seeking skills during a “Job Search Boot Camp” on Tuesday,
May 16, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Career Services Center,
located at 1324 W. Wisconsin Ave.
This day-long workshop offers instruction in the most critical
job search skills including: resume and cover letter writing,
interviewing techniques, networking skills, and making employer
contacts.
For those seniors still unsure about their career path after
college, Job Search Boot Camp will provide tools to give them
greater direction in their search for the right professional
pursuit. As part of the workshop, students will locate and
apply for at least one professional position, compile a targeted
list of fifteen potential employers, determine ten networking
contacts, and contact at least five of them.
Participants will also exercise their communication and marketing
skills in a mock interview, have their resume and cover letter
reviewed by a professional counselor and learn about additional
skills required for an effective job search.
The Marquette University Career Services Center strives to
assist all students and alumni in discerning, developing,
and pursuing meaningful traditional and non-traditional career
paths. Marquette University's Job Search Boot Camp 2006 is
generously sponsored by Target and WisconsinJobs.com with
career specific giveaways from MonsterTRAK, Wheaton Franciscan
Healthcare-Milwaukee, and Ernst &Young LLP.
This event is offered as part of the university's Senior
Week. Interested media should contact Anne Broeker in
the Office of Marketing and Communication.
