Marquette To Host Colloquium
On The Da Vinci Code

As Dan Brown's novel The Da Vinci Code approaches
its two year anniversary on the New York Times Best
Seller List this week, Marquette will host a colloquium on
“Fact and Fiction in The Da Vinci Code” on Thursday,
March 17 at 2:00 p.m. in the Alumni Memorial Union on the
Marquette campus.
Dr. Donald Rappé, a Marquette graduate (Grad, 99)
and chair of the theology department at Mount Mary College,
will lead a discussion on the historical and theological claims
in Dan Brown's novel. The colloquium will address the enduring
popularity of the The Da Vinci Code , the movie that
is being made based on the book and issues in the book including
Mary Magadalene's relationship with Jesus and how Christian
scholars interpret her role, the secret society, Priory of
Sion, and its existence and the depiction of Opus Dei .
The event is free and open to the public.
