Two new national rankings out today single out Marquette
University's academic programs for national recognition. The Princeton
Review's 2005 National College Survey results named Marquette
one of the best universities in the country. Marquette is profiled
in the edition of The Best Midwestern Colleges , in which
the Princeton Review calls the university a “solid,
demanding Catholic school in Milwaukee .” With this ranking, the
Princeton Review seeks “to identify the colleges and
universities that we feel stand out within each region.” In addition,
U.S. News & World Report's 2005 America 's Best Colleges
rankings place Marquette at number 90 nationally among more than
250 universities.
An excerpt from the Princeton Review 's profile
of Marquette:
"There is really a lot more to Marquette than 'community
service' opportunities and the excellent basketball program…,"
notes one student at this solid, demanding Catholic school in
Milwaukee . Undergrads here warn that "sometimes professors
forget that we are college students and some of us work. The workloads
can sometimes get out of hand." When students feel overwhelmed,
however, they can take advantage of the "many opportunities
to get help and ask questions." Marquette 's faculty members
are "engaging, funny, and knowledgeable" and "encourage
meeting outside of class and accessing them at all times, even
at home. They have flexible office hours and truly try to get
to know their students."
