Jalapeno Eating Contest to Celebrate Latino Culture

Released: September 29, 2004

MILWAUKEE – As part of Marquette 's Hispanic Heritage Celebration, Raices, a student group at Marquette , will hold a salsa tasting and jalapeno eating contest on Wednesday, September 29th from 5:30-7:00 p.m. in the Alumni Memorial Union, room 111.

The word Raices is Spanish for “roots”. Here at Marquette , Raices is a multicultural student group focused on educating themselves and others about the Hispanic/Latino culture.  They participate in community service events within the Latino community, and are role models for younger Latinos by encouraging them to continue on to higher education.
