Marquette to Host International
Conference on
Caribbean Culture and Literature

MILWAUKEE – Marquette University will host the international
Conference on Caribbean Culture and Literature Wednesday, October
13 - Saturday, October 16, 2004 . The conference will feature
discussions on topics ranging from Cuban theater to French, English
and Dutch Caribbean literature.
In celebrating Caribbean culture, the journal Caribe
and the Department of Foreign Languages at Marquette University
proudly present A Concert of the Americas, a concert
by world- renowned pianist Martha Marchena on October 13, 2004
at 7:30 p.m. in the Weasler Auditorium at 1506 W. Wisconsin Avenue
. Ms. Marchena has been acclaimed as one of today's most innovative
and powerful pianists. Marchena has performed all over the world,
and in 2001, was the recipient of the Hispanic Caucus Latino Cultural
Arts Award from the American Association for Higher Education.
