The Marquette University Reserve Officer Training (ROTC) Program
is sponsoring a drive to assist U.S. troops serving on the front
lines. Throughout the holiday season, the ROTC will accept
donations to assist the thousands of troops stationed in Iraq,
Afghanistan and around the world. Snack food, stationary,
small batteries, toiletries, and entertainment items are all welcome
and will be sent in appreciation for the courage and sacrifice
of our service personnel.
"Support Our Troops” bins will be located in the lobby of
the Alumni Memorial Union, the entrance to Raynor Library, and
the Army, Navy, and Air Force buildings on campus. Lists
of priority items, including writing paper, envelopes, pens, postage
stamps and small non-breakable Christmas decorations, will be
posted on collection bins.
"Our soldiers, airmen, marines and sailors who are halfway
around the world are fighting to protect our freedom,” said Lt.
Col. Clark Backus. “There is no way to describe how much it means
to our troops when the communities for which they are fighting
reach out and show their appreciation.”
Members of the community, as well as Marquette University students,
staff and faculty are encouraged to participate. Interested
media should contact Anne Broeker in the Office of Public
Affairs.
