Golden Eagles Seek Fan Donations
for School Supplies and Book Drive
Released:
Nov. 23, 2004
The Women in Support of Marquette Athletics (WISMA) is sponsoring
its fourth annual School Supplies and Children's Book Drives.
Fans are asked to bring school supplies to the women's
basketball game against Wisconsin on Wednesday, December 1
st, and new or “gently used” children's books to the Marquette
men's basketball game on Saturday, December 11th, also against
Wisconsin.
Joani Crean, wife of Marquette Men's Basketball Coach Tom
Crean, and Gwen Cords, wife of Marquette Athletics Director
Bill Cords, are spearheading this event.
"These events are very important to us because there
is no greater gift a child can receive than to learn the love
of reading,” said Joani Crean. “We are thankful to have the
opportunity through Marquette athletics to help Milwaukee
area children.”
Collection bins will be placed at all entrances to the Al
McGuire Center, home of the women's basketball team, and the
Bradley Center, home of the men's basketball team.
All of the items collected will be donated to schools and
organizations serving children near Marquette University.
