Community Observes Ash Wednesday

The Marquette University community will observe Ash Wednesday
during several masses on campus. Ash Wednesday marks the beginning
of the Lenten season during which Catholics recall the sacrifice
of Christ. During mass, ashes are rubbed on the forehead of those
in attendance. The ashes are the burned remnants of palms used
during Palm Sunday celebrations in the Easter season.
ASH WEDNESDAY MASS SCHEDULE
Noon : Mass in the Chapel of The Holy
Family (Alumni Memorial Union 2 nd Floor)
4pm : Ecumenical Service in the Chapel
of The Holy Family (Alumni Memorial Union 2 nd Floor)
8 p.m. : All-university Mass in Gesu
Church (
1145 W. Wisconsin Ave. )
10 p.m. : Mass in St. Joan of Arc Chapel
