Marquette Athletics Announces Fifth Annual Book Drive
Books to be collected at Friday’s game against Notre Dame

Released: Jan. 18, 2006

MILWAUKEE- Women in Support of Marquette Athletics (WISMA) will collect new or “gently used” children’s books in support of its fifth annual School Children’s Book Drive at the highly anticipated men’s basketball game against Notre Dame on Friday, Jan. 20 at the Bradley Center.

Spearheaded by Joani Crean, wife of Marquette Men’s Basketball Coach Tom Crean, and Gwen Cords, wife of Marquette Athletics Director Bill Cords, the book drive collects donations for schools and organizations serving children near the Marquette Community.

“These events are very important to us because there is no greater gift a child can receive than to learn the love of reading,” said Mrs. Crean.  “We are thankful to have the opportunity through Marquette Athletics to help bring books to Milwaukee children.”
