University’s Department of Performing Arts presents
Compassionate and Wise a concert featuring Cyprian Consiglio
and John Pennington, Saturday, Nov. 12, at 3 p.m. in the Alumni
Memorial Union, Chapel of the Holy Family. The concert is
free and open to the public.
Cyprian Consiglio is a monk of the Camaldolese Congregation.
He is also a musician, composer, author and teacher. He lived
for ten years at New Camaldoli Hermitage in Big Sur, serving
for eight years as liturgist, choir director and teacher.
Cyprian currently lives at Holy Cross Church in Santa Cruz,
California. He has five collections of original music recorded
and published through OCP Publications, and another collection
with his long time collaborator, percussionist John Pennington,
released through the Equilibrium label.
John Pennington is currently an Associate Professor of Music
at Fort Lewis College and is the Artistic Director of the
Animas Music Festival. Pennington is an orchestral percussionist
who currently performs with the Music in the Mountains International
Music Festival, Animas Music Festival, and the San Juan Symphony.
He has performed with the Arizona Opera, Santa Fe Opera, Arizona
Ballet, Phoenix, Ann Arbor, Saginaw, and Tucson Symphonies.
In 1999 Mr. Pennington performed on a "Prairie Home Companion."
