Demand for a Marquette Education Sets Record
Marquette receives record number of applications for 6th consecutive year

Released: Jan. 6, 2006

MILWAUKEE – Marquette has scored another big win.  Just days after the men’s basketball team’s historic victory in its BIG EAST Conference debut against #2 ranked University of Connecticut, the Marquette Office of Admissions announced that it has received nearly 11,000 applications for one of 1,800 spots in the 2006 freshmen class.  This is the sixth consecutive year Marquette has broken application records, said Dean of Undergraduate Admissions Roby Blust.

“The demand for a Marquette education has never been higher,” said Blust.

The application record is not measured by numbers alone.  Marquette has also seen the academic quality of its applicants increase, according to Blust.  “We are seeing more ethnically and geographically diverse applicants than in the past, and students see great value in Marquette’s commitment to academic excellence and leadership,” said Blust.
