The Ethnic Alumni Association of Marquette University will
host its first reunion weekend July 29-31, 2005, with special
events on Marquette's campus for alumni of color from all
class years. Hundreds of alumni are expected to participate
in the weekend's activities. This reunion will coincide with
Marquette's annual alumni reunion celebration.
Marquette's newly appointed associate provost for diversity,
Dr. Keenan Grenell, will welcome members of the ethnic alumni
association at a reception on Friday, July 29 from 6:00 p.m.
to 8:00 p.m. at the Al McGuire Center. Theo Merriweather will
provide live jazz entertainment.
On Saturday, July 30 from 6 p.m. to midnight, comedian and
Marquette alumnus Rondell Sheridan will host the "Dinner
and Dance to the Decades" banquet. Sheridan is featured
in television's "That's So Raven," "Cousin
Skeeter," " Men are from Mars, Women are
from Venus," "America's Funniest Home Videos,"
and "Hollywood Squares." Milwaukee's own
Bahia will provide live entertainment before dinner, and Chris
Levy of Milwaukee's 1290 WMCS will deejay afterwards.
The reunion will conclude with a multicultural mass on Sunday,
July 31 at Gesu Church featuring the world-renowned All Saints
Church Gospel Choir. The mass will be followed by a champagne
brunch and a Milwaukee Brewer's game.
A variety of other activities are scheduled throughout the
weekend, including seminars by members of the Marquette and
Milwaukee community, bus and walking tours, a block party
and a 5K run/walk.
