James P. Flaherty, S.J. and Charles M. Williams, Jr. Elected to Marquette Board of Trustees Released: Oct. 4, 2005 Rev. James P. Flaherty, S.J., Arts ’78 and Charles M. Williams, Jr., Arts ’82 have been elected to the Marquette University Board of Trustees. Father Flaherty is the rector of the Marquette University Jesuit Community and an adjunct professor of philosophy at Marquette. He entered into the Jesuit community, the Society of Jesus, in 1979 and was ordained a priest in 1992. He has previously served as the associate director of University Ministry at Marquette. He earned his doctoral degree from the New School for Social Research in 2003. "I am pleased to be able to serve Marquette in one more way, as a trustee. Marquette has given me the tools to lead a successful life and I hope my role as a trustee will ensure that for future generations of Marquette graduates,” said Father Flaherty. Mr. Williams is the senior managing director and chief administrative officer of global corporate and investment banking at Bank of America. He has global responsibility for supervision and control, cash securities operations, infrastructure development, real estate, marketing, business process outsourcing, quality, and productivity and operational risk management. He is a member of the board of managers of Banc of America Securities and is chairman of Bank of America Overseas Corp. and Bank of America Investment Financial Corp. Prior to joining Bank of America in 1996, Mr. Williams worked as a trader and senior regulatory risk management executive at several top-tier Wall Street investment banks. "I am honored to serve Marquette on the Board of Trustees. As a Marquette alumnus, I look forward to helping shape the future of the university and to see its continued prosperity,” said Mr. Williams. Father Flaherty and Mr. Williams join a board of 33 members. Their terms on the board began at the time of their election.
