Marquette Student Employee Named
Best in the Nation

Daniel Hamrin, a senior in the College of Communication at
Marquette University, has been named National Student Employee
of the Year by the National Student Employment Association.
Hamrin, who has served as the Alumni Memorial Union
(AMU) student employee coordinator of the past two years and
is also assistant building manager, was also recently named
Student Employee of the Year for the state of Wisconsin and
received the regional award from the Midwest Association of
Student Employment Administrators. He was also named
Marquette's Student Employee of the Year.
As student employee coordinator, Hamrin manages a staff of
approximately 415 students, leads training and direction of
more than 30 student managers, and acts as a liaison between
Marquette staff and student workers. Among his accomplishments,
Hamrin retooled the entire student employee program in order
to make it a leadership development experience. He also
worked a shift in nearly every area to create a relationship
with staff.
Hamrin joined the AMU as a freshman in the Event Management
Office and within his first two weeks, was named Student Employee
of the Week among more than 300 other student employees.
He was named assistant student employee coordinator in the AMU
his sophomore year.
During Hamrin's four years at Marquette he volunteered with
Campus Kitchens, represented Marquette as a student representative
to the Association of College Unions International Region 8,
served as a camp counselor for the Wauwatosa Recreation Department,
and recently was awarded a Peer Education Student Leadership
Award from the Division of Student Affairs.
