Named William G. McGowan Scholar
Marquette Senior Brent Baumann receives honor

Marquette University is pleased to announce that Brent Baumann,
a native of Watertown, WI and graduate of Watertown High School,
has been selected as the William G. McGowan Scholar for the
2005-06 academic year. This award includes a full-tuition
scholarship. The announcement was made at the College
of Business Administration Annual Honors Convocation.
Baumann is currently a junior in the College of Business
Administration, and is an active volunteer in the Marquette
and greater Milwaukee communities. He serves on a fund-raising
committee and volunteers for Hunger Clean-Up and is involved
with the Midnight Run and Habitat for Humanity programs.
In addition, he is part of the Honors Program and has been
inducted into Alpha Sigma Nu, the Jesuit Honor Society and
Beta Gamma Sigma, the Business Honor Society.
Baumann also serves as an ambassador for Marquette with incoming
students as he works with New Student Orientation and is a
tour guide through the Office of Undergraduate Admissions.
He is majoring in economics and international business
and for the latter, studied for one semester in 2004 at City
University in London. He currently carries a GPA of
nearly 3.9 on a 4.0 scale.
“Brent truly represents the values of Marquette University,”
says Dr. David Shrock, Dean of the College of Business Administration
. “He is an outstanding student who also makes time
for university and community service. He certainly
has demonstrated the combination of knowledge, skills and
drive required for success in any endeavor.”
The McGowan scholarship is awarded annually to a senior who
is pursuing a major within the College of Business Administration
with a QPA of at least 3.0. Applicants are judged primarily
on their academic achievements and community involvement.
The award also aims to recognize excellence of character
and great potential for entrepreneurial success. Twenty-one
students applied for this year's scholarship.
