Marquette University’s English alumni organization to hold book swap

MILWAUKEE – Marquette University’s English alumni organization, Friends and Alumni of Marquette English (FAME), will host a book swap on Sunday, Jan. 29, from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. The free, family-friendly event will be held on the second floor of Alumni Memorial Union, 1442 W. Wisconsin Ave., on Marquette’s campus.

Participants are to bring gently used books to the swap, which will be sorted into categories by organizers. Participants may then browse through donated books, taking home up to half as many as they donated, up to five books. All leftover books will go to the Milwaukee Rescue Mission and the Sojourner Family Peace Center, Milwaukee-based charities.

“Marquette University has been a home to many of us who have developed a life-long connection to literature, and it is the ideal place to gather together to exchange stories, ideas and books,” said Grace Urbanski, FAME chairperson and a lecturer in Marquette’s Department of English.

Individuals who would like to donate books or can’t attend the event can drop books off at a donation barrel in the lobby of Raynor Library, 1355 W. Wisconsin Ave. For more information about the Book Swap or FAME, please contact the Marquette University Department of English at 288-7179.
