The Rev. John Naus, S.J., associate professor of philosophy and
assistant to the president, will be honored as the Alumnus of
the Year by the Father Danihy Alumni Club of Alpha Sigma Nu (the
National Jesuit Honor Society) at 10 a.m. Sunday, March 21, with
a Mass and brunch in the Alumni Memorial Union.
For almost 40 years, Father Naus has been a teacher, chaplain,
clown, adviser and friend to Marquette . Thousands of students
have learned from his life of love and faith. Naus, a Milwaukee
native, was ordained a priest at Gesu Church on Marquette 's campus
in 1955. After finishing his studies, Naus returned to Marquette
in 1963 as Dean of Students. He has been here since that time
serving in several different capacities. He has been the director
of spiritual welfare, a residence hall minister, assistant to
the president, associate professor of philosophy, Tumbleweed the
Clown, and the faculty advisor of Marquette's chapter of Alpha
Sigma Nu as well as Marquette's chapter of Evan's Scholars. Fr.
Naus can be available for interviews.
