Marquette and MMAC Creating Entrepreneur Network
Released:

For Milwaukee to compete with the economies of major cities,
we must become a haven for entrepreneurs. One of the main topics
of discussion at this week's Wisconsin Innovation Network's Entrepreneur
Conference is the lack of networking groups for entrepreneurs.
Governor Doyle has also recently talked about the need for such
networks.
The Marquette University Kohler Center for Entrepreneurship and
the Metro Milwaukee Association
of Commerce (MMAC) are joining together to fill that void.
An exciting new group called Emerging Entrepreneurs has been created
to engage new owner-managers in "results-based programming.” The
Emerging Entrepreneurs kick-off meeting will be held on Monday,
June 9, from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at Eve Restaurant, 718 N.
Milwaukee St., Second Floor. Robert Auer of Auer Marketing L.L.C.
will present “Marketing on a Tight Budget.” Attendees are asked
to bring a sample of their current marketing materials to share
and review at the workshop portion of the event. There is a $10
fee at the door
Other networking opportunities in Milwaukee lack focus on issues
and access to fellow entrepreneurs, something owners of new ventures
need and want. New business owners (in business 0 to 3 years)
are invited to experience an opportunity to learn and share with
people who can relate to them. Experienced business owners (in
business more than 3 years) are invited to share their knowledge
from a “been there, done that” standpoint.
Mission: Emerging Entrepreneurs is committed to the professional
development of business owners engaged in new ventures through
participation in knowledge exchange and performance feedback sessions,
exploration of tools for owner-managers, and involvement in peer-to-peer
advising. Results-based programming in a supportive environment
shall facilitate positive resolution of issues unique to early-stage
companies.
