Marquette University's Athletics Nickname Survey Results: Conclusions The majority of respondents were somewhat open to the possibility of having a non-matching nickname and mascot, but returning to the mascot Bleuteaux would not be acceptable to half of the respondents. Students (33%) were more likely than those in the other three groups (22%) of alumni, faculty and staff to say the nickname must match the mascot. 39% felt (41% of alumni, 33% of students, 30% of faculty and 38% of staff) that if Marquette were to reinstate the Warriors athletics nickname, the mascot could be something such as an animal or an inanimate object instead of a human warrior.   If you are a member of the media, please contact a member of Marquette University's Communications Team directly with your questions.
