Marquette University's Athletics Nickname Survey Results Marquette University conducted a survey of its students, alumni, faculty and staff in November 2004 to provide an avenue by which university stakeholders could voice their opinions and help the Board of Trustees understand the reasons they have for feeling as they do about changes made to the nickname and mascot. The survey was not designed or promoted as an opportunity to vote on the nickname. The survey findings were among many information sources considered by the Board members as they deliberated on their decision.
