In its previous life, the building served as a hotel. The Beatles spent the night on Sept. 4, 1964, after playing to a screaming crowd at the Milwaukee Arena. The exact room John, Paul, George and Ringo stayed in is subject to debate, but it's believed to be somewhere on the seventh floor. In 1980, Marquette purchased and remodeled the hotel building. A $3 million renovation of Mashuda Hall was completed in 2002. The residence is named for Josephine Hallman Mashuda, a Marquette benefactor.
