| Thursday, 10/8/09 | Noon | Susan Applegate Krouse, Associate Professor of Anthropology American Indians and the Great War Susan Applegate Krouse conducts research focused on urban American Indian communities, particularly issues affecting women. She also carries out ethnohistorical research and recently completed a monograph on American Indian veterans of World War I, focusing on their efforts to acquire United States citizenship following their military service. Dr. Krouse has also worked with MSU colleagues to investigate the health status of American Indians and Latinos in the City of Lansing, Michigan. She is the director of the American Indian Studies Program at Michigan State University. |

Since then, these performers have been traveling the Midwest sharing the Ho Chunk tradition through their songs, dance, and rich stories. This performance will offer a chance for Marquette students to not only learn about the Ho Chunk Nation but also have a little fun. |

The film shows the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians and how a mix of tourism, community, and cultural preservation is key to the tribe’s health in the 21st century. |

Fall Break | Civil Rights Pilgrimage The 2nd Civil Rights Pilgrimage will be taking place over fall break of this year. The Pilgrimage is an educational adventure that gives Marquette students the opportunity to learn about and reflect on the events of the Civil Rights Movement. This year the pilgrimage will involve a $200 fee for any student who wishes to attend. Applications will be available in the beginning of September and due September 24 with a deposit. Final payment for those attending will be due by October 8. Anyone attending the Pilgrimage will be asked to attend two informational sessions in October.
