| Monday, 11/9/09 | 7 p.m. | Dabka Dance and Workshop Dabka is a traditional Arab group dance originating in Palestine, Jordan, Lebanon and Syria. The word dabka means “stomping of the feet.” The dance combines easy and complicated stomping movements. Come and watch Raj’een, the Milwaukee-based Palestinian Dabka group and learn how to dance Dabka as well. |

Facilitated by Ammar Askari, President of Wisconsin’s chapter of the American-Arab Anti- Discrimination Committee (ADC), the largest Arab- American grass roots organization in the United States and a nonsectarian, non-partisan organization committed to defending the rights Arabs and promoting their rich cultural heritage. Panelists — who will discuss commonalities among Arab Christians, Jewish Arabs, and Arab Muslims; interfaith marriage; discrimination, current interfaith dialogues, and collaboration among Arab groups to combat conflict — include representatives from the Islamic Society of Milwaukee, St. George Melkite Church, and other organizations.
