Israel-Palestine Program
The Center for Peacemaking is committed to helping students and the wider community understand how nonviolence can be used to bring about a just viable solution to the conflict. We are excited to offer students in collaboration with the Office of International Education and the University of Notre Dame the opportunity to study in the Holy Land. Learn more about the program.
In 2008 the Center received a grant from the Frankel Family Foundation enabling students and faculty the opportunity to travel to Israel-Palestine to study peacemaking and co-existence. The grant also allowed the center to host presentations with internationally recognized experts in the Israeli-Palestinian peace process. These presentations were designed to increase awareness of this conflict. The following individuals came to campus:
›Mubarak Awad, Cofounder, Palestinian Centre for the Study of Nonviolence
›Rabbi Arthur Waskow, Founder, Shalom Center
›Jesse Greenberg, Chicago Area Coordinator for J Street
›Gregory Khalil, Palestinian negotiator
›Ray Helmick, S.J., author and negotiator
DVD's of past presentations are available at the Center for Peacemaking, Marquette University, Academic Support Facility (ASF) Room 201.
