Courses that Meet Documentation of Teaching Requirements

EDPL 270 - Faculty Roles in Higher Education - 3 credits (Requirements 6 and 7)
Seminar aimed at students planning academic careers in higher education. Focus on changes in traditional dimensions of teaching, research, and service in light of current research on teaching and learning; corporate influences on higher education; and current critiques of higher education.

EDPL 271 - Designing and Teaching Effective Courses in Higher Education - 3 credits  (Requirements 1-5)

Seminar aimed at students planning academic careers in higher education. Focus on planning, delivering, and evaluating courses in higher education that produce significant student learning in light of current advances in cognitive science relevant to teaching and learning.

EDPL 237 - Theories of Learning Applied to Instruction - 3 credits (Requirement 1)
Survey of major theories of learning. Use of learning theory to analyze and critique curriculum and design learner-centered instruction and assessments. Offered every term. Available online annually.

EDPL 215 - Using Technologies for Instruction and Assessment - 3 credits (Requirement 5)
Survey of instructional technologies that enhance learning and assessment across the curriculum. Copyright, fair use, and equity issued relating to technology use in education. Web access required. Offered every term. Course will be taught on-line. Requires access to a personal computer with Netscape or Internet software. Windows 95, 98 or NT required.

E-Teaching Certification - Center for Teaching and Learning Offering for full and adjunct faculty (Requirement 5)
The Faculty Certificate in Electronic Teaching entails the successful completion of six of seven three hour workshops offered by the Center for Teaching and Learning. Successful completion is defined by participation in three required workshops as well as three of four optional workshops and the completion of a teaching project that integrates at least three electronic teaching applications into a course that the faculty member is currently teaching or intends to teach. Each of the workshops will be offered at least once each semester, and once in the summer. Workshops will include demonstrations, hands-on activities and an opportunity to obtain advice from instructors and other faculty on strategies and techniques that work to strengthen student learning in the digital world of entirely online or blended (face- to- face and online) courses.
