Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How do I become a PFFP participant?

A: Submit a PFFP Application.

After you submit the application, you will be contacted by the PFFP Coordinator about your participation.

Q: Is the program only for Ph.D. students?

A: No. The Preparing Future Faculty and Professionals is available to all graduate students, including Master's and Doctoral students.

Q: Is there a fee?

A: There is no fee for participating in PFFP.

Q: May I complete PFFP at institutions or universities outside of Marquette?

A: PFFP is a program provided by Marquette for graduate students.  There are specific requirements for completing the program via opportunities and resources provided by Marquette.  Activities completed at other institutions will not fulfill MU PFFP requirements.

Q: When can I start the PFFP program?

A: You may start participating in the PFFP program at any point of your graduate school career at Marquette. We highly recommend starting early in your program, if possible.  Once you apply, you will attend a Connect with PFFP meeting to network with other PFFP participants and learn about the program’s structure and requirements.

Q: How do I complete the PFFP program?

A: The PFFP requirements are designed to support you on the development of skills related to your career trajectory, including creating an Individual Development Plan, a Mentor Plan and end-of-program reflections.  Additionally, you will select a PFFP track to pursue (faculty, versatile PhD or Professional) and then complete requirements associated with concentrations related to that track.

Q: When I complete the program, is there any recognition?

A: Yes, you will receive a transcript notation of your successful completion of the PFFP program.  This is an indication to future employers that you have developed skills and had experiences that make you uniquely prepared for positions you pursue.

Q: Must I complete all the requirements of the certificate program within a specified time period?

A: You will need to complete the requirements prior to graduation. You may work toward the completing the program at your own pace during your career as a graduate student at Marquette.

Q: What is the best way to stay current with workshops, resources, events, Connect with PFFP meetings, and other announcements?

A: Check the Preparing Future Faculty and Professionals D2L site consistently, look for weekly email announcements from the PFFP Coordinator, and/or subscribe to the PFFP Calendar.

Q: What if I have additional questions about PFFP?

A: Please email the coordinator at mupff@marquette.edu.
